Dance, song and wine
Dance Ensemble Fall Concert
This concert was produced by local guest artist Annamaura Silverblatt. The program included choreography by local guest choreographer Mary Paula Hunter and a guest appearance by local artist Mary Reavey Gendreau. Sophomore choreographers Ryan Smith, Courtney Rowe, and Jonathan Martin would later establish RCJ, a student run company, named for the initials of their first names, that they sustained throughout their years at Brown, developing new works and peforming in all concerts. The concert featured Dance Extension, directed by Julie Adams Strandberg in Strandberg's "Company" (1991), "Parsons Etude," (1999), "Ecce Etude" (1998 based on "Ecce Homo," 1975). Student choreographers and performers Ryan Smith, James Brown, Deborah Friedes, Lauren Hale, Jamal Jackson, and Alison Friedman went on to have distinguished careers in the dance field. The student choreographers for this show were: Jamal Jackson, Jessica Gaynor, Jonathan Martin, Courtney Rowe, Ryan Smith, Gower Champion, Sarah Coogan, Leigh Fitzgerald, Jessica Zenk. Student choreographers Jessica Gaynor, Chris Elam, and Alison Friedman and performers Wendy Rein, Lauren Hale, and Andros Zins-Browne went on to have distinguished careers in the dance field. Friedman founded and directed Ping Pong Productions. Dance Extension, directed by Julie Adams Strandberg performed "Trails and Turns" (1998) by Laura Bennett '92, "Requiem" (1990) by Colin Connor, "Flow Form" (1989) by Ruth Andrien, and "Tenant of the Street" (1938) by Eve Gentry. Lighting was by guest designer Timothy Cryan. The student choreographers for this show were: Alison Friedman, Rajeev Goyal, Jennifer Livaudais, Emily Bartholomew, Leigh Fitzgerald, Miriam Friedel, Jessica Zenk, Nancy Rimmer, Jessica Gaynor, Chris Elam, Kate James, Cara Murray, Anita Gonzalez.
