Engraved caricature; Highlander and woman pulling wagon or chariot, containing seated dog with headdress of boot, towards hospital for Scotch Pensioners at left and being intercepted by stout figure in ancient military costume. The small car upon which George III is seated is being pulled by the Princess of Wales and the Earl of Bute. The Duke of Cumberland dressed as a Roman general rushes forward to aid the king. In the right background, merchants dispatch bales going to 'Pondicherry', 'Martinico', 'Guadeloup', 'Louisbourg' and 'Quebec', all names of places captured from the French during the French and Indian War/Seven Years War, which it was proposed to conclude by a peace promoted by Lord Bute. Satire probably designed to induce the ministry of Lord Bute to desist from surrendering these places -- British Museum Satires, Vol IV, page 100, No. 3885 London, Spencer, 1952.
