Depicts a patrol of 14th King's Hussars with Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel R.W. Hewitt DSO, advancing towards Kazimain to take the Turkish surrender on March 11th 1917. The painting by Australian artist G W Lambert was commissioned by the 14th Hussars and also appeared as the frontispiece to the 'Cavalry Journal' of April 1927. The original painting was exhibited in the Royal Academy in 1921. Lambert made studies of the men in the painting when the regiment was based at Tidworth, England, after the war.
