Hail! La Fayette

written by Major J.N. Barker ; a tribute of respect to that illustrious friend of liberty on his arrival in the United States ; adapted to Genl. La Fayette's march, the Marsellois hymn ; the music arranged for a full military band at the request of the Committee of Arrangement by F. Fest. Song; for voice and piano. Caption title. English words (presumably by Barker); 1st verse printed below vocal line, verses 2-4 printed as text following music. Illustration: a small oval portrait of Lafayette set between flags, a cannon, cannonballs, a drum, a serpent (musical instrument), and the ship "Cadmus". Above the portrait is an eagle holding a banner in its mouth that reads "The Nation's guest" and one in its claws that reads "Lafayette".
