Different scenes are depicted from Capece's life in the prisoner of war camp. At top left, he is interrogated by a German official sitting behind a desk. At the top right, he looks out through the bars of his window while in solitary confinement. At the center left, German soldiers load prisoners onto a train. At the center right, soldiers shake hands with a representative of the Red Cross in front of some tents. At the bottom, a German soldier with a rifle watches as prisoners are given clothing to wear. Served with the U.S. Army Air Force in Italy and his B-17 bomber was shot down over Germany in June 13, 1944. Captured, he was interned in Stalag Luft 3 until liberated the following year.
