After training at Pendleton Field, Oregon, in aerial and ground photography, Baldwin served with the 20th U.S. Air Force as public relations photographer and artist. Stationed on Iwo Jima, he later covered the surrender of Japanese forces in Tokyo Bay, August, 1945. Gift of the artist, 1994.
