Pencil inscription on verso: "Fixed with shellac or some varnish I found amongst our meagre, odd-ball collection of equipment, and may have used some alcohol from medicine - who would have been very suspicious." Published in Yank, May 5, 1944. Crown served in the South Pacific as an infantry artist and Staff Sergeant. He was also a field correspondent for Yank magazine. Gift of the artist, 1994.
