2011 Festival of Dance

A highlight of this program was the return of Troika Ranch, directed by choreographer Dawn Stoppiello and composer and video designer Mark Conilgio, to set a second piece on Dance Extension. Troika Ranch was at the forefront of integrating technology with live performance. Extension was also featured in Meg Weeks '11 "Overlay" and in "Rooms Etude," arranged by Lorry May inspired by Anna Sokolow's 1955 "Rooms." New Works/World Traditions Movement Theatre, under the direction of Michelle Bach-Coulibaly, created and performed "Luna Rise" which included text, aerialists, live music, projected images, masks, and puppets. Producer Julie Adams Strandberg's note pondered the difference between the record of an experience and the experience itself and the importance of experiencing the moment -- both in life and in the theatre.
