Brown University Theatre & The Department of Theatre, Speech and Dance present Brown Dance Ensemble Spring Concert 2003

This concert featured New Works, World Traditions, directed by Michelle Bach-Coulibaly, in "Flamma, Flamma," choreographed by Bach-Coulibaly, and in "Sewadon" choreographed by Bach-Coulibaly in collaboration with tradtional Malian artisans, M'Ba Traore, Seydou Coulibaly, Salimata Soumanou, Ibrahima Doumbia. Bach-Coulibaly’s Mande Dance program is a model of dance in the academy in which learning Mande dance is inseparable from learning about Mande culture.The program also sponsors student travel to Mali and engages with members of the broader Rhode Island community. Dance Extension, directed by Julie Adams Strandberg, were seen in Robert Battle's "Rush Hour," Anne-Alex Packard's "Angels in the Attic," and local artisit, Annamaura Silverblatt's "Song Of Miriam." Silverblatt was assisted by Ryan Smith '02. Student choreographers Kyle Shepard '04, Hentyle Yapp ' '03, and Chad Ebustani '03 also presented pieces. Guest choreographer, Yin Mei performed "Asunder" on two of the nights with student Kyle Shepard.
