Brown University Theatre presents: Dance Ensemble Spring Concert
A hightlight of the program was the number of alumni who choreographed for this concert: Carol Abizaid '84 ("Civil Liberties" and "Cedars Falling"), Laura Bennett '92 ("Reverie"), Chris Elam '98 ("Heavy Train"), and Lauren Hale '02 ("Swept"). In addition to appearing in "Reverie" and "Swept," Dance Extension, directed by Julie Adams Strandberg appeared in "Troika Ranch's "16 (R)evolutions." Troika Ranch, directed by choreographer Dawn Stoppiello and composer and video designer Mark Conilgio, was at the forefront of integrating technology with live performance. Annamaura Silverblatt's "His Mother" and Michelle Bach-Coulibaly's "Dreamscapes From The Famished Road" completed the program. In her producer's note, Bach-Coulibaly's spoke of her sense of urgency and the whittling away of our freedoms and the role of the artist to ask difficult and unspoken questions.
