Brown University Theatre / Sock & Buskin present Spring Dance Concert 2000 Thirty Years of Dance: 1970-2000

This 30th anniversary concert was dedicated to James O. Barnhill, founding artistic director, and John R. Lucas, founding technical director of Brown Theatre. Highlights of the program included New Works/World Traditions in Michelle Bach-Coulibaly's "Domba|" the debut of a new student run company, What's On Tap| student run RCJ in "post/you," and student run Fusion Dance Company in "My Name is Prince." This program marks the first time choreographers Ryan Smith, Courtney Rowe, and Jonathan Martin are credited as RCJ, a student run company, named for the initials of their first names, who had been choreographing together since their first year. Dance Extension, directed by Julie Adams Strandberg performed Strandberg's "Ice Images" (1986), Andonis Foniadakis' "Aurore Boreale," Carolyn Dorfman's "Portrait" (1996), Annamaura Silverblatt's "Narcissus," and Amy Heerema's "Ode To American Legion Post #13 (1991). Strandberg's director's note provided a brief retrospective of the dance program. The student choreographers for this show were: Lauren Hale, Jonathan Martin, Courtney Rowe, Ryan Smith, Catherine Wong, Leigh Fitzgerald, Miriam Friedel, Alison Friedman, Monica Herrara, Jonah Rosen, Kate Solmssen, Jessica Gaynor.
