At head of text: At the recent reunion of the Old Settlers' Union of Peoria and vicinity, a poem was read entitled "Remembrances of Childhood," which was written by A.M. Laughlin, and had been read by him at an old settlers' union at Atlanta, Ill.... Poem in 17 four-line stanzas. At end of text: It is but right to acknowledge that I am indebted for some of the above thoughts and language, to a Mrs. Snow, who wrote long ago a short poem entitled "The Old Kitchen Floor."--A.N.
