Nap nearly nab'd, or a retreating jump just in time

Bonaparte and a French officer escape from the rear window of a Russian farmhouse. Their escape route lands them directly into a laundry tub full of water. In this satire Napoleon is shown mid-leap; one foot leaves the window sill while the other heads for his water landing. The officer who accompanies him waits in the open window and exclaims "Vite courez mon Empereur. Ce Diable de Cossack dey spoil our dinner!!!" In their quick departure they knock several flower pots from the window ledge and startle the pigs and fowl in the fenced-in yard. They have also alerted the kitchen maid to their escape. To the left of the scene a Cossack rides close to the farm yard. Other Cossacks on horseback ride in the distance. Bonaparte and a French officer escape from the rear window of a Russian farmhouse.
