Une Scène du déluge survenu dans le Nord en 1806
Hand-colored facsimile reprint of caricature by and after Forioso (pseudonym?) after Anne Louis Girodet-Trioson? (1767-1824); 'Reproduction of a Napoleonic satire on the perilous position of his enemies in 1806. Tsar Alexander is holding on to the branch of a dead tree growing from the top of a cliff; he complains that Queen Louise of Prussia, who hangs on to his queue, will pull him down - he is her only hope; her husband, Frederick William III clutches her legs, urging her to hold on tightly. Another man in military uniform is already floating in the sea, perhaps intended for Francis, Emperor of Austria. Beyond, John Bull is seated on a rock complaining at the loss of his shops and factories which are being overwhelmed by waves' -- British Museum.
