Murat reviewing the grand army!!!!!!
General Murat (l.), astride an emaciated horse, looks over his left shoulder to review a rag-tag group of soldiers made up of invalids and shoeless bumpkins. The soldiers stand in a line at the right side of the image; many are amputees and veterans of the French Revolution and previous wars. Not only are the new recruits in sorry shape, but also Murat's horse is a half-starved nag. The words "Boney Part" are inscribed on its rear flank. Murat took control after Dec. 15, 1812, only to resign and flee to Naples one month later on January 18.
