Boney at Brussels

Napoleon, (center), sitting on a high platform, is flanked by two Mamalukes in eastern-style clothing, holding scimitars. He is approached by seven Belgians in supplicating postures, who bow low, hiding their heads under large platters. Using two large pronged forks, Napoleon spears banners of paper carried to him on these platters and proceeds to eat the writings. With his right hand, he stuffs his mouth with a banner inscribed, "Address to the Deified Consul." The fork in Napoleon's left hand spears the next morsel of consumption; a banner labeled, "To the Grand Consular Diety."
