Johnny Bull on the look-out, or- Bonaparte detected drilling his rib, at the play of King & Queen of England.--scene St. Cloud
John Bull (r.) pulls back a curtain to reveal Napoleon and Josephine seated on thrones and arrogantly pretending to be the King and Queen of England. Napoleon, dressed in his military uniform and a ridiculously oversized black hat, brandishes an unsheathed sword. Josephine mimics his pose and sits in an unlady-like fashion, hand on hip and knees spread apart. Additionally, she wears a crown and carries the royal scepter and orb. Bull dwarfs the two pretenders and chastises them as if they were children at play.
