At head of text wood-engraving of woman in bed captioned: "When Mary laid her down to sleep, her thoughts on Sandy far at sea." In lower margin: Sold, wholesale and retail, by J. G. Hunt, at the Head of City Wharf, South Side. Hunt is listed at this address in 1836. First poem attributed to J. Lowe and second to M.G. Lewis in T.L. Philbrick's "British authorship of ballads in the Isaiah Thomas collection," Studies in bibliography, Papers of the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia, v. 9, 1957, p. 255-258.
