Republican Prox – Lt.-Governor Turner was nominated by the American Republican and the Republican parties to head their state-wide tickets. The two political parties nominated separate candidates for lieutenant governor and general treasurer. Turner defeated his Democratic rival Elisha Potter by more than 2 to 1.
