Drumming out of the French army!!!

In this image Napoleon is punished by General Blücher, who carries a large drum into which Napoleon is inserted. The large drum bears Napoleon's Imperial insignia. Blücher carries a bundle of twigs which he uses to scourge Napoleon's bared bottom. In his right hand he carries a drumstick with which he beats Napoleon's head. Walking on the left, Alexander and Frederick William III smugly observe Napoleon's beating. A piper who wears the fleur-de-lys emblem of Louis XVIII accompanies the allied leaders. In the background the French army marches under the flag of the restored Bourbon king. Significantly, none of the figures is caricatured, although they are satirized. Napoleon's response is particularly comic. Backside bared, he has been returned to his "sans-culottes" roots (traditionally attributed to Napoleon by the British). While his feet wave futilely, he clutches his head and exclaims. In this image Napoleon is punished by General Blücher, who carries a large drum into which Napoleon is inserted.
