Broadley: '...it contains an amount of minute and interesting detail which renders it probably the most curious print of the kind in existence. On a segment of the underworld, marked, 'Lethe,' 'Styx,' 'Pyriphlegeton,' 'Thele-graph,' etc and showing a shadowed portrait of Frederick the Great, stands a huge boarhound in the act of gnawing a human skull. His forepaws rest on a beam marked 'Term.' His lips are lettered 'Daru,' his ears 'Douaniers' and 'Gendarmerie!' His toes form the names Rapp, Victor, Davoust, and Vandamme, and his tail, disclosing a profile head of Napoleon, is lettered 'Prate-or.' The hind leg, marked 'Vandamme,' is firmly fastened to a heavy chain, held firmly by a hand displayed in the top right hand corner, which also grasps a whip lettered 'for Hamburg, Lubeck, and Bremen.' On the wall at the back is a mock trophy inscribed 'Victory at Leipzig 20 Trop he!' and, at the top, 'Vici.' The trophy consists of a pitchfork and scythe crossed over a rake. Tattered garments are suspended from them. A strip of linen is lettered 'Drapeau' and on the scythe are the words '19 October 1813' -- the date of the Battle of Leipzig. Two human arms stretching out right and left are lettered 'Veni' and 'Vidi.' To the right a bearded figure, crowned with a fool's cap, supports the picture of a monkey, above which are the words 'Pasquinus eram,' and below 'Der Nachstecher' (The Imitator). Under the picture is a group of masks from which an arrow is directed at the imperial scepter, some branches of laurel, and a reversed military eagle, all of which are grouped over the spot marked 'Lethe.' From the mysterious hand hangs down two padlocks, one of which is lettered 'Pariser kauft.' At the top right hand corner is the cross-star of the Allies, from which proceeds the dog Napoleon the words 'Behold of Ahab will I also root out----.' On either side forked lightning and thunderbolts, having the same objective, form the easily recognizable profiles of Wellington, Blücher, Bulow, and Bernadotte.'
