The work depicts Capece's journey after being shot down and found by a German farmer. He is seen being observed by German civilians, including men, women and children; driven on a motorcycle into town; taken to the hospital by German Luftwaffe officers in an automobile; visiting with the injured pilot and navigator in the hospital; and being put on a train by German soldiers for a prisoner of war camp. There is also a study on the reverse side of the sheet, depicting a building and reclining figures in a sketchy manner.
